My aim was to create a film that evokes emotion. Using Landscape to engender Allegory and poetic meaning. Eden is an absorbing and moving meditation on the complexity of human existence.
A homage to William Mounsey who in the 1800s undertook an emotion and physical journey to discover the origins of the river Eden in Cumbria. A 96 mile north flowing river. Its source Hugh seat fell down to the solway firth
A Journey which reveals my personal, human and social context. The Helm is the only named wind in the UK. Giving me a fixed point where I can ground the film at the place I was born and where the film is journeying back to. The Helm gives me perfect contextual and symbolic audio and visual imagery which allows expression of the inner conflict within me. Conflict I reveal visually through the tension between the natural and the man-made. A visual description of my sense of place revealing my inner state of turmoil and displacement with the urban world around me.
